About Me

My photo
I am married to my best friend. We have three daughters (2 are my husband’s and one is mine) and a son (my husband’s, all are grown and not living with us. Four grandchildren (all from my husband’s kids). I have worked in the insurance industry for 30 years, like most in the industry, it was not my life long dream, but I am passionate about my job. I love to read, but there is not enough time in the day. I have stacks of books I want to read and a list to buy. I am an only child; wish I had brothers or sisters. I do have a sister in law; she is a kick in the pants (funny and cool). I have been on Weight Watchers since February 2008 and lost 45lbs! I feel great. I reached my goal weight, the last few pounds were the hardest!

My wonderful husband!

Yesterday was my birthday. My husband took me shopping to buy clothes. He said his gift was being patient while I shopped. He did very well and I found tons of clothes, this was good as I needed them after loosing all that weight. He did get a little frustrated at the end of the day when we went to Ross Dress For Less, it was kayos, stuff strewn everywhere, kids sitting in the isles screaming. He said "I will take you to another store and spend three times as much if we can get out of here". After all the shopping we went to dinner at a sushi restaurant with our friend Angela. Dinner was great, the restaurant was sort of a club as well. We had drinks that were much needed after going to Ross, was a fun night. Angela and I had a Sweet Tart martini, they are great, we will have to try to make them soon!

Update on the goings on of the family.

Things have been crazy around here. I had been studying for a national exam to earn a designation from a class on delivering insurance services I took last summer. I did not think I would pass the test, but lo and behold I did it!!! I was so excited I had to tell everyone at work (not something I would normally do). Next is obtaining my insurance license, a requirement of my new possition at work. That should be a hoot! Being in the business for almost 30 years (oh my, I'm old!) and having to finally get my license. This is defiantly stepping out of my comfort zone.

On another note. Amy and Seth made it to Pennsylvania, it took a week driving. I'm sure they are glad to be off the road for a while. I hope she will start a blog to share their adventure with friends and family. She was sick part of the trip and had to go to urgent care. Turns out she had strep throat.

Jennie just got a new car. She is so happy, it will be much more dependable than the old Saturn she had. She is doing great at her job, she was employee of the month!

Time is flying by!

My daughter and Seth left today for Las Vegas (her home) and then will be leaving there Monday for her new adventure in Pittsburgh, PA. We had a great visit, I took the day off yesterday and we went to the movies. Mama Mia the sing-a-long version. It was good, a little goofy with the sing-a-long, but the movie fit with her new adventure (I cried a little). I hope this is a great adventure for Amy and Seth. I can't wait to see pictures of Pittsburgh and their trip along the way. It is a happy yet sad time when you realize your baby has grown up! I'm glad I have a very challenging career to keep me busy. Things have been crazy with my job (my second month as the services manager for our company), we have went thru downsizing, personality problems, resignations and so much learning. I'm sure this will only make me stronger. We are looking forward to going to my cousins for a birthday party tomorrow. I haven't seen them for a couple of months. Time just seems to fly these days!
